What My Art Means To Me
As a child, I was always inspired by my creative parents. I was also fortunate enough to spend my childhood years in an idyllic, natural environment. As commercial development began to swallow up my childhood playgrounds, I realized at a young age how fragile the natural environment is, and how these virgin places are quickly disappearing from our lives. With few places left untouched by humans, I attempt to capture the natural environment around us, with a mindful eye on how we, as humans, are affecting the natural order of nature. In my paintings, I use bold, vivid color and designs, looking beyond the earth tones that are immediately apparent. I hope the vivid colors give my artwork a compelling quality, and allow the viewer to explore what is not only readily visible, but what may lie beneath what we see everyday. In my artwork, I try to tell a story about the environment, and invite the viewer to become a part of the artwork.
